I would have to include the speech of Ms. Michelle Obama, aka the First Lady in Training, as one of the best speeches I have heard in the modern era. I say this for a variety of reasons.
1. It was persuasive without being pushy about the messages that needed to be conveyed.
2. It was a tribute not only to her husband but also to Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden.
3. It saluted the struggles of yesteryear marking the anniversaries of the Women's Right to Vote and the March on Washington.
4. It was strong, passionate, and heart-felt.
5. She showed poise, glamour, and a distinctive nature similar to, yes, Jackie Kennedy.
6. She presented the speech without hesitation or slip-ups.
7. "And that is why I love this country" - she put to rest any anti-patriotic gossip
8. She let women see that she as a woman would be good for them in the White House.
9. Her emotions were felt by many in the audience who were wiping away tears.
10. The speech shows that Barack's wife is also a clean, bright, and articulate black person.
I am listening to the GOP response and wouldn't you know it, all negative comments. The difference between politics and sports is that in sports you can pat your opponent on the butt and say good job. You can acknowledge greatness and still play on the other side. It seems that politicians are unable to congratulate Michelle Obama on a slam-dunk presentation.

She is MRS Obama and she her hubby are getting all this attention just because (as Joe Biden says) it's so unusual to find articulate and clean black folks ya know.
