First of all, there are way too many jokes that I can think of in regards to the Dark knight aka Christian Bale. I always thought of him as kinda "dark" after watching American Psycho. Hmm, did he really go psycho with his family? But that 's not what I want to talk about.
No, I am a bit upset that one of my major films seems to be destined to be unseated as the Number One Box Office Mega Money Maker (and don't even try to tell me that Gone With the Wind is the real champ because confederate money doesn't count).
Now I am sure that The Dark Knight is a great move and will be one of few action films to win an Oscar or two but hey, Titanic was a great human interest story about greed, abuse of power, thievery, attempted murder, suicide, racism, and yeah, there was a love story mixed in as well.
It grossed $600.8 million. Now comes The Dark Knight, with $300+ million and counting. Honestly, I am not really that upset at all. What we have here is a win-win situation. Hollywood should understand that if and when it deems to make a QUALITY action film, customers will respond with their pocketbooks. And when we do spend money on good films and DON'T spend to see bad films, guess what? They will make more good films.
More value for our buck means more money for the film-makers. Everybody wins.
See, maybe the movie is called The Dark Knight, but the future days are very bright...indeed.
